Healing Journey from the UK: Successful Knee Replacement in Fethiye

A UK-based patient named Mark sought help at Lokman Hekim Esnaf Hospital in March 2025 for long-standing knee pain. Following an orthopaedic consultation and X-rays, advanced osteoarthritis was identified in both knee joints.

Commenting on the case, Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon Op. Dr Mustafa Eroğlu shared the following details: “Mark first attended our clinic in March 2025. Examination and imaging confirmed osteoarthritis in both knees. I recommended total knee arthroplasty and explained that, after a short operation, he would be able to mobilise within a day. On 1 October 2025, I performed simultaneous bilateral total knee arthroplasty under spinal–epidural anaesthesia. The procedure took around two hours and went very smoothly. Thanks to the epidural, the patient experienced no pain for three days. He began mobilising with a walking frame 36 hours after surgery and, by day five, was walking independently. Mark was an exemplary, positive and co-operative patient, and he recovered rapidly.”

Completing an uneventful post-operative course, Mark expressed his gratitude to the clinical team prior to discharge.
