Specialist in Psychiatry
Dr Ufuk Bal was born in Adana in 1975.
He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Adana.
He began his medical studies at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine and graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 2001.
He completed his specialist training in Psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry, Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine, qualifying as a specialist in 2011.
In 2010, Dr Bal undertook a clinical observership at Western Psychiatric Hospital, University of Pittsburgh, in the United States. He subsequently developed a particular professional interest in mindfulness-based therapies. In his clinical practice, he uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), one of the third-wave cognitive behavioural therapies, tailoring the approach to individual needs.
Dr Bal contributed one of the first case reports in Türkiye on the use of ACT for smoking cessation. His academic work includes research focusing particularly on the use of mindfulness to improve functioning. He is also the first author of five published scientific articles.
In August 2026, He joined Private Lokman Hekim Esnaf Hospital in Fethiye as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
