Specialist in Microbiology
Dr Emrah Başkaya was born in Ankara in 1978. He completed his primary education in Manisa and his secondary and high school education in İzmir. He graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in 2003.
During his medical studies, Dr Başkaya served as the National Student Exchange Officer for the Turkish Medical Students' Association and represented Türkiye at meetings of the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA).
He completed his specialist training in Medical Microbiology at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in 2011, before fulfilling his compulsory service at Midyat State Hospital.
Between 2013 and 2014, He worked at Istanbul Public Health Laboratory No. 2. During this period, he attended a number of national and international training programmes in molecular microbiology and contributed to the 2013 National Microbiology Standards Workshop.
In January 2015, He joined the Department of Microbiology at Private Lokman Hekim Esnaf Hospital in Fethiye.
Outside his professional work, Dr Emrah Başkaya enjoys computer programming as a hobby. He is married with two children.
